Good Practice for Conference Abstracts and Presentations (GPCAP) Recommendations Published in Research Integrity and Peer Review

The article titled “Good Practice for Conference Abstracts and Presentations: GPCAP” was published in Research Integrity and Peer Review (RIPR) in June 2019. The GPCAP recommendations address the specific challenges of developing abstracts and presentations for academic conferences. The recommendations cover authorship and contributorship; transparency; development, review, and approval of abstracts and presentations; guidance on re-presentation of data (encore abstracts); copyright considerations; and appropriate citation of conference presentations. Applying Good Publication Practice 3 Guidelines in the Asia-Pacific Region Published in Research Integrity and Peer Review

The article titled “A Guide to Applying the Good Publication Practice 3 Guidelines in the Asia-Pacific Region” was published in Research Integrity and Peer Review (RIPR) in October 2019. The article addresses the challenges of interpreting publication recommendations and guidelines, particularly for those individuals for which English is a second language. The article aims to provide a guide for authors and medical publication professionals in the Asia Pacific region on applying GPP3 guidelines and International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) recommendations when developing medical publications. An Asia Pacific ISMPP U webinar titled “A Guide to Applying the Good Publication Practice 3 Guidelines in the Asia-Pacific Region” will be held on October 29, 2019, in Asia Pacific countries, and on October 28, 2019, in the US. Information from a preprint of the article was also presented during the recent Asia Pacific Meeting of ISMPP in September 2019.

GPP Guidelines Focus of a Presentation in Asia Pacific Region

Karen Woolley was invited to present on the topic, “What’s So Good about the Good Publication Practice 3 (GPP3) Guidelines and What’s Next?” at the Australasian Medical Writers Association (AMWA) Annual Conference, in August 2019, in Manly Beach, Australia. The presentation covered the GPP3 guidelines and the future of Good Publication Practices, including the forthcoming GPP4 guidelines.

Open Access Policies of Leading Medical Journals Published in BMJ Open

The article titled Open access policies of leading medical journals: a cross-sectional study” was published in BMJ Open in June 2019. The article reports on a cross-sectional analysis conducted of open access policies of 35 medical journals, with a high impact factor, publishing original research from 13 publishers.
