Over the past year, ISMPP, through the efforts of its Strategic Workgroup, has been evaluating the current medical publications landscape and assessing potential future trends. To build on its historical success and strong growth, the Society undertook a review of the ever-evolving environment surrounding medical publications, in order to establish a longer term strategic vision for the organization.
With this objective in mind, ISMPP is pleased to unveil our new Vision and Mission statements for the Society:
While medical publications will remain at the core of ISMPP’s mission, our remit will expand to cover the broader communication of medical research. Our new Vision will focus on “the ethical and effective communication of medical research to inform treatment decisions.” And, our new Mission will be, in part, to “Advance the medical publication and communication professions globally through: enhanced integrity and transparency in medical publications and wider communications…”
The name of our organization – International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) – will not change, despite the expansion of our remit.
Further information about the insights that led to the new Vision and Mission, plus the Society’s longer term strategic imperatives and key strategic recommendations, will be presented at the ISMPP Business Meeting on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, during the 14th Annual Meeting of ISMPP, April 30-May 2, 2018, in National Harbor, Maryland, USA. All attendees are welcome to join the Business Meeting!
