“Factors Impacting Time to Acceptance and Publication” Article Published in CMRO

An article titled, “Factors impacting time to acceptance and publication for peer-reviewed publications” was published in Current Medical Research and Opinion in December 2016. This research evaluated times to acceptance and publication for peer-reviewed manuscripts, reviews, and letters to the editor that were included in a single-company publication database. The preliminary dataset was presented at the 12th Annual Meeting of ISMPP in April 2016. Click here to access the article.

Editorial on RWE Studies Published in Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research

Richard White published an invited editorial in the Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research in January 2017 (published online October 2016), that provides insights into best practices for the planning and communication of real-world evidence (RWE) studies. Titled “Building trust in real-world evidence and comparative effectiveness research: the need for transparency,” the editorial identifies key concerns raised over the robustness of RWE studies and provides recommendations on how to address them. Getting Research Published: An A to Z of Publication Strategy – Third Edition Released

Liz Wager released the third edition of her book, Getting Research Published: An A to Z of Publication Strategy. The book provides step-by-step guidance on developing a publication strategy, and instruction to understand the publication process and avoid common pitfalls that often delay or prevent publication. This updated version includes Good Publication Practice (GPP3) guidelines, and is recommended reading for the ISMPP Certified Medical Publication Professional exam.

Current Medical Publications Topics Presented at MedComms Networking Event

Several ISMPP members presented on current medical publications topics at MedComms Networking’s Brunch Club event in November 2016.

  • Clare Shepherd provided an overview of how digital technology and enhanced features are adding value to medical publications.
  • Caroline Halford reviewed the evolution of patient-centered outcomes research and the direct involvement of patients in publications.
  • Jan Seal-Roberts talked about the rapid growth of “predatory” publishers and the dangers they pose for the STM (Scientific, Technical, and Medical) publishing community.

Caroline Halford also presented on tips for a successful presubmission enquiry at the Brunch Club event in January 2017.

These and other presentations are housed in a library of webcasts available on the NetworkPharma.tv website.
